Paying for Health Treatment

Students are not automatically eligible for free or discounted health treatment on the NHS. Whereas GP visits and hospital treatment will be free, prescriptions and visits to the dentist and optician may cost you money. However, you can still be eligible for free treatment, or help towards the cost of your treatment. You can pick up an HC1 form from the DSU Advice Centre or your GP's surgery. This form allows you to apply for help with health costs. Most students find that they are entitled to at least some financial assistance, so it is always worth investigating.
