It's important to enjoy the time between exams and results and not to worry excessively about them. If you are very worried, you could try speaking to your personal tutor, college Senior Tutor or the University Counselling Service
If you are anxious when you get your results try taking a deep breath and use the imagery and relaxation techniques described in relaxation.
Academic Appeals
In a few cases, students feel that they want to appeal an academic decision made about marks on exams or essays. The most important thing to note is that you only have 21 days in which to appeal a decision.
It is important to note the University's procedure for doing this which can be found here http://www.dur.ac.uk/resources/university.calendar/volumei/current/regs.appeals.pdf
The Grounds for Appeal are stated as:
(a) that in the case of any academic decision: that the appellant was adversely affected by illness or other relevant factors4 of which he or she was previously unaware or which for a valid reason, he or she was unable to disclose to the decision-making body or officer before the decision in question was made; and that there is reasonable doubt as to whether the decision making body or officer would have reached the same decision had this information been known.
AND/OR
(b) that in the case of a decision of a Board of Examiners or a decision of the examiners of a higher degree: that there was a material defect3 in the assessment process
AND/OR
(c) that in the case of other academic decisions (eg Keeping of Terms): there was a material defect5 in the administration of the procedure.
Appeals on other grounds shall be deemed inadmissible.
If you think you would like to pursue an Academic Appeal, you should first read the full regulations using the link above and then consult with your Senior Tutor or the DSU Advice Centre as soon as possible.
