Description
DUHWS is a ratified, DSU funded society, aimed at Hill and Mountain walkers. Each Saturday during term time we organise and run trips to a variety of wild, upland areas in England and Scotland. Popular destinations include the Lake District, North York Moors, Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and Southern Scotland. Members have the opportunity to take part in walks of varying length and difficulty lead by experienced, first aid trained, walkers. We cater for all abilities within reason, with members including mountaineers, scramblers, fell walkers, and those new to the outdoors, who simply enjoy the countryside! We also run a weekend away each term, and a week away in the summer, usually to the Scottish Highlands. These events are the highlights of the year, allowing you to be in the hills with new friends!
The society isn't just about walking; spending a day out walking with a group of people is a great chance to make new friends and we organize lots of social events throughout the term including two pub visits every Saturday!
