Description
Engineers Without Borders ( www.ewb-uk.org ) is student-run charity dedicated to facilitating human development through engineering. EWB Training educates students about development work. Typical events include talks and seminars on sustainable development and training courses and workshops. EWB Placements: the highest profile activities are our overseas development projects which are conducted by student interns in partnership with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) around the world. EWB Projects: Students undertake projects on behalf of NGO's that have current engineering issues for their 3rd or 4th year projects.
One important point to remember: EWB is not just for engineers. There are many opportunities for people with all kinds of background within the running of the charity, the nationwide branches and the organised activities. This is reflected particularly well by the fact that over 50% of those participating are women, something which clearly goes against all engineering trends!
