Description
DUSCR is a society for bell ringers. We welcome experienced ringers of any level, as well as those who wish to learn, for whom teaching will be provided. Our home tower is St Brandon’s, Brancepeth, some five miles south of Durham. We practice at Brancepeth every Wednesday evening from 7.30, and a large DUSCR contingent can usually be found at most of the local practices too, including those at the Cathedral and St. Oswald’s in the city centre. Many members also participate heavily in Sunday service ringing at numerous towers in the area, as well as attempting frequent quarter peals and, indeed peals. Aside from ringing, we enjoy an incredibly active social life, featuring the better pubs of central Durham, termly tours, and an excellent black tie Dinner each December. It is fair to say that we are very great indeed.
