Description
Capoeira is a Brazilian Art Form, combining martial arts, game and dance. It originated in the 16th Century from the struggle of native and African slaves against their oppressors, its history is connected with warrior rituals from Central Africa. It develops confidence, combined with a strong centre and balance. Capoeira’s fluid style of fighting, blended with its music and song, makes it unique among martial arts, requiring grace and agility as well as strength and skill. Central to the message of capoeira is unity and teamwork, keeping the flow of play continual regardless of the game and to find peace, joy and fulfilment, both in the game and in life.
