New Societies & Ratification

What you need to start or re-ratify a society

1. A list of 15 people willing to become members.

2. A Society Constitution laying out the rules which will govern your society including a brief description of your society as well as aims and objectives. DSU provides a basic template constitution that can be found here.

3. You need to hold a general meeting to ratify your constitution and elect an executive committee.

4. Then you need to arrange to meet with the DSU Societies and Student Development Officer and email the ratification document, available here, along with the Constitution to [email protected].

 5. Final step: Hand in signed hardcopies of both your Exec form (as contained within the ratification document) and the ITS form (available here: http://www.dur.ac.uk/resources/its/servicedesk/registration/forms/Non-personal%20Registration.pdf) to Maureen in the Advice Centre.

If you have any questions about the ratification process then contact the Societies and Student Development Officer by emailing [email protected]

After meeting with the DSU Societies and Student Development Officer hopefully it will be possible to confirm ratification of the Society!!!
