Education & Welfare Officer

Education and Welfare Officer

Jake Wanstall

Hi, I’m Jake and I’m your Education and Welfare Officer. This means I am here to represent you and help provide support for you in anything that affects your education or welfare experience at Durham.

The Education side of my role includes facilitating the course rep system, working closely with Andrew Cartwright (DSU Education officer) and working closely with university departments such as ITS and the library, to ensure that you get the most out of your time studying here.

On the welfare side, I work very closely with your college welfare officers sorting out their training and working on campaigns. Welfare is about your general well-being at university, so never feel like any issue is too large or too small to approach some of the support networks available. You can also expect to see both awareness and change campaigns on everything from Mental Health, great ‘headspace’ days out through to sexual health.

I sit on lots of committees, meet lots of departments and get asked what students want by important people in the university. So I need to know what you think! I need to know what you think about everything from the library, to the counselling service, right through to how your studies are working. Please contact me on one of the ways below, drop in to Dunelm House, or grab me when I’m in your college.
